Search Engine Optimization is one of the most important parts of internet marketing. Everyone knows that the content of a website has to be easy to read and to understand for people, but many forget that same should apply for search engines.
Search engines aren’t people and you have to adapt your website and content for them. Majority of internet users start their internet browsing on one of the search engines, typing in a term they want to know more about.
Search engine searches for that term on millions of websites and shows those which are the best, according to hundreds of different criteria. This is what Search Engine Optimization is for – editing your site and content to fit that criteria. From optimizing article titles, to having search engine friendly URL, there’s a lot you can and should do.
When you have little or no experience with SEO at all, it might look scary and complicated. Years of experience in doing SEO for our own sites and for our clients gave us enough material for this infographic.
We get asked about SEO almost daily from people who are not sure what they should do. Sometimes it’s specific questions, but a lot of times people didn’t understand the foundations and basic terms. That was the foundation and starting point for creating this infographic.
We made a list of terms used in search engine optimization, but we couldn’t explain them all on this infographic – it would be too big! That’s why we narrowed it down a bit and picked those that are most important, least understood and/or most asked about.
Those terms were then explained in simple sentences so that people without any SEO knowledge could easily understand them. The idea for design came from the whiteboard in our office we used for listing the terms! Since there’s a lot of important information, we decided to go with a fun design based on mental maps some people create to simplify learning process. The design grabs attention with colors but it’s also easy to read
Learning is what we had in mind when creating this infographic. We wanted to educate those just starting their online business or website about this important part of internet. You don’t have to be familiar with SEO to understand it and learn from it.
Now when we are asked general questions about SEO, we can just share this infographic and those asking can easily understand what it’s all about. Some SEO blogs shared it as a reminder for more experienced SEO specialists. It’s also great for promoting SEO in general, since it’s colorful and simple, so it grabs attentionfrom someone who might not be interested in SEO right away.
No matter if you are a beginner or you work in SEO, take a look at our SEO alphabet and you might learn something new!
