Does SEO Company guarantee a scam?
This might be my shortest post yet but I just had to share this with everyone.
You hear quite often that the weather is not something to rely on. Nothing changes as much as it.
The SEO industry is one of the most unpredictable industry and this is deliberately so. Google doesn’t want you to know what you need to do to get first page ranking so they keep their ranking factors a close secret.
If there was a secret sauce everyone will be doing it and the game becomes un-interesting and un-attractive. This is deliberating so and we SEO’s love.
I just got off a long call that involves myself and a client on how my company can help him get his website listed on the Google SERP.
Here is a summary of our discussion:
Client: I want you to get my website listed on Google first page.
Me: Oh sure. That is not much of an issue. We have done it in the past and we can do it again.
Client: Ok. Good. …..
( dot signals a whole length of discussion)
Client: So how long is it going to take before you get my website on Google’s first page
Me: Well, it depends on a whole lot of factors some of which are within our control and others which are not. So give or take we should except a good result after seven months.
Client:: So you giving me a guarantee that after the 7th month,my website will be on Google’s first page.
Me: No, I am not giving you a guarantee. I am only telling you that I would work on your website using industry standard practice and we leave Google to rank your website on the appropriate position. SEO is a long race.
Client: No, I want a guarantee that my website will be on the first page. My previous SEO company gave me a guarantee.
Me: Oh. Well, at VTNS Solutions, we can’t give guarantee because we are not Google. We can only do our best
… after much talk(the dots signifies lot of conversation)
Client: Well, I understand you. The previous company gave a first position guarantee of three month or money back. Unfortunately they didn’t deliver and they never refunded the money so that is why I am shopping for a new SEO company.
So there you have it. SEO who think by giving a guarantee you would win the business, you are in for a long race. For business still looking for a guarantee, learn from the experience of other and focus on metrics that actually matters.
Never ask or give a guarantee of first position ranking and even Matt Cutts has said it.
Don’t believe me, watch this video.
